How much does a Shopify website cost?
The costs behind a Shopify store, from subscriptions and themes to development, apps, payment processing and ongoing improvement.

A Shopify website does not have one fixed price. The subscription is only one part of the budget. The catalogue, design, content, integrations and amount of custom behaviour determine the work required to create and operate the store.
Start with the platform subscription
Shopify offers different plans, and pricing can change. Choose using the features and operational requirements the business needs now rather than assuming the most expensive plan produces a better storefront. Payment arrangements and transaction fees also need to be checked against expected sales.
The theme sets the implementation baseline
An established theme can reduce initial design and development work. It may still need configuration, brand styling, reusable sections and careful mobile testing. A custom theme costs more because its templates and components are designed around a particular customer journey.
Catalogue preparation is real project work
Products need consistent titles, descriptions, imagery, variants, prices, identifiers and collections. Migrating untidy data into a new platform does not make it clean. Larger catalogues often need transformation rules, import testing and manual exceptions.
Apps create both setup and ongoing costs
Reviews, subscriptions, loyalty, search and fulfilment features may involve monthly charges. Include configuration, theme integration and support as well as the advertised fee. Several modest subscriptions can materially change the store’s annual cost.
Integrations should be estimated separately
Accounting, warehousing, customer service and marketing platforms vary widely in complexity. A supported connector may be quick to configure; a two-way custom integration needs mapping, error handling, security and monitoring.
Keep budget for work after launch
Real customer behaviour will reveal opportunities that planning cannot. Merchandising changes, landing pages, performance work and measured conversion improvements should be treated as part of operating the channel, not evidence that the launch failed.
